Today I'm going to share with you this Seiko 5 SNZE32, which I thought looked kind of similar to the Vacheron Constantin Overseas (I said kind of similar!). There's not a lot of information about it yet online except from watchsleuth.com.

The SNZE32 is the gold version. In case you're into into gold, there are stainless steel ones with other dial colors like the SNZE25, 27, 29, and 30, but I haven't been able to find them.

Specifications:

  • Case diameter: 40mm
  • Lug to Lug: 45mm (but wears more like a 50mm)
  • Case Thickness: 11mm
  • Lug width: 25mm

It has an integrated bracelet, which starts from 25mm and tapers to 19mm. If you want to change straps, you'll have to get it custom made for this.

It's powered by the 7S36 movement. How does it differ from the 7S26? I've read in this forum that the 7s36 has an additional "LOWER BRIDGE FOR THIRD WHEEL AND PINION" but it doesn't make the 7S36 better than the 7S26. My knowledge isn't in movements isn't deep enough to understand what's going on, check out  the Caliber Corner website on 7S36. In my novice mind, it's pretty much the same as the 7s26 where it doesn't hack and it doesn't hand wind.

It has a beautiful guilloche dial which make this watch feel intricate. The applied hour markers remind me of little gold bars. The brushing around the case goes outwards and along with this gold color, reminds me of the rays of the sun. It has lume on the hands and on the edge of the hour markers but it's pretty much as what you'd expect on a Seiko 5.

The bracelet held together by split pins is a welcome change from the folded links in other Seiko 5 watches like this one. It's a little more expensive than the regular Seiko 5's but I'd say the price bump is warranted.

As for the downsides, which might not apply for everyone else, is number 1: the tone of this gold with the gold dial makes this whole watch too yellow or too flashy. It seems that this shade of gold will not be flattering to a lot of skin tones, which makes it look cheap rather than luxurious.

While the lug to lug is 45mm, the first few links do not curve down which make it wear bigger. On my 6.25" wrist, it doesn't conform that well. It seems like this watch would fit better on someone with a wrist size of 6.5" and above.

If I had a bigger wrist, I would get it modded by swapping it out to any other color aside from gold to tone it down. However, since it doesn't fit me, I think I will just keep it in the box for now. I don't know what I'm going to do with it yet, maybe give it as a gift or maybe sell it. Perhaps yellow gold will come back in style, who knows!
